Silent Heroes Ch. 2 by ~mjnousak:iconmjnousak:

Link perked his canine ears as he heard the cries of the new enemies. He knew them well having defeated them with his sword many times. He couldn’t bite them as they had proven to be not only twili-magic infected, but highly diseased. He was lucky that he had Zelda to cure the disease with her light magic with him at the first attack. Otherwise he would have surely been a goner. He ran towards the source of the sound, figuring he would merely transform to human form when he confirmed that it was indeed these new enemies, and not just some bizarre bird mimicking their cries like last time. He turned a corner into the woods and spotted, not the dark enemies he had expected, but a white wolf who, apparently, decided it was time for a nap.

He sniffed the air and picked up a highly unfamiliar bizarre scent about the wolf. Two scents as a matter of fact. He barked loudly, causing the white wolf to jump up and began snarling. Link snarled back to show he was no coward, even to this strange new beast.

“Watch it Ammy! This wolf feels different.” Issun said, watching the dark green wolf snarl at them. He bounced up a bit to get a better look at the beast; it noticed him and barked again. It had curious markings of a tree on its forehead and around its eyes.  Not only had it interrupted Ammy’s nap, a fool’s errand, but it was apparently aggressive too. The poor thing didn’t know what it was in for in his opinion.

Amateratsu watched carefully as well, it didn’t seem to be an opponent, but it wasn’t showing any signs that it was friendly. It almost seemed to simply be defending its territory. She had gotten used to being awoken from her naps rudely, but never actually cared. Issun seemed worried, which was reason enough for her to be on her guard.

Link watched the white wolf and her sprite, he hadn’t seen creatures like them before aside from himself, but the sprite she had talked. It reminded him of Midna before she had attained her true form and left for the twilight realm.

Amateratsu decided to be the polite on and walk towards him, her solar flare kept on her back.

Link watched the other wolf approach, but made no attempt to stop it, it didn’t seem harmful. He continued to snarl for good measure though, his guard constantly up.

“Hey uhhh Ammy, what are ya doin?” Issun asked as they got closer and closer to the snarling wolf.
Amateratsu didn’t answer as she continued to approach the wolf she could sense…something off about him, He didn’t seem as lupine as she did. She got within a hairs breath and the other wolf stopped snarling

Link had decided that this wolf wasn’t aggressive and stopped his growling, but had himself ready to transform back to human at a moment. Midna had taught him how to change between human and wolf before she had left. He knew he could slay this beast in a second with his master sword, but he knew that killing without cause was foolish and idiotic. The white wolf did something that surprised him, it nuzzled it’s head on his.

“Ammy! What the hell are you thinking?!” Issun cried as Amateratsu began to rub on the green wolf.

Amateratsu smiled inwardly, he was warm and kind feeling. She had decided to show her good will by rubbing on him, an action which seemed to surprise the wolf and Issun.

Link rubbed back, deciding if this wolf was willing to rub on him, he should return the favor.. He soon stopped rubbing the other wolf and smiled, licking its face happily.

Amateratsu smiled, he had licked her face, definitely a sign that they understood each other not to be enemies. She licked his back, suddenly a voice cried out behind them.

“Link! Link where are you?” She turned to see a blonde haired girl dressed in a strange outfit. It looked like a half formed robe top, help together with string with a white undershirt.
She cocked her head to the side in confusion, so this wolf’s name was Link.

Link raised his head at the call of his name. He turned to see Ilia and smirked, he hadn’t expected her to come looking for him but he had been hunting for a good amount of time. She along with the rest of the village had taken kindly to the fact that he was the wolf they had tried to kill before. The whole village had apologized vigorously for hurting him. He had merely smiled and shrugged it off. He knew they had meant well. He walked over to her and licked her face.

“Hey! Did I say you could do that?” Ilia said, smiling at him. “You know I get worried when you don’t come home.” She had been keeping Link company when he wasn’t hunting or fighting off monsters. “Why aren’t you back? Did you run into those paper faced guys again?” She asked, the strange creatures had suddenly appeared and began attacking the village. Link had been fending them off, but he was often tired from fighting them and had little time to do much else.

“Paper face… hey Ammy, you don't suppose she means imps?” Issun asked, remembering the idiotic opponents that they had once fought to slay. He was initially going to compliment the girl on her beauty, but upon the mention of their enemies, decided it was time to discuss more important matters.

Amateratsu nodded her head. They did sound like the imps they had just fought. What other being would wear a paper mask and attack for no reason than an imp? Though why should the imps attack this world if ones as powerful as Onimaru and Ajimi weren’t up for battle.

Link shook his head no and smiled at Ilia. She was still his best friend even after the horrific events that had happened. Though she had lost her memories and he had to fight to get them back. She was kind to him even without them.

“So whose you’re new white friend?” Ilia asked Link, patting his head. Link shrugged and gave her a half exasperated half irritated look. Just because he was a wolf, didn’t mean he knew every wolf in the world.

“Well don't give me that look! I was just curious.” Ilia said, giggling.

Link sighed and turned into his human form. The process wasn’t painful anymore like it was when he first transformed. Midna had taught him how to activate the twilight magic on his own.

Amaterasu cocked her head to one side in confusion. Was she near Wep’ker? Neither of them were wearing masks and it wasn’t snowing like it usually perpetually did. And this person’s outfit was nothing like the ones of Wep’ker, no fur or thick jacket. It was entirely what looked like mismatched materials put together.

Her confusion only increased when link pulled out a silver bladed sword. But the hilt was purple rather than the ancient carved wood of Kutone. If this was near Wep’ker, she’d surely have to find Oki and tell him of this. A second warrior would surely interest him. He had been searching for a sparring partner.

Link smiled at Ilia and began to walk back to Ordon Village. Ilia began talking again about how he should actually try to get to know her father a bit more. He already knew her dad very well. Mayor Bo was a kind hearted nice man. Strict when he needed to be, and extremely clever; the man had used iron boots to beat gorons at wrestling. A feat Link himself had copied but wasn’t willing to try again.

He liked Ilia’s father, but he had no time to try and “bond” with him. He had mayoral duties and Link had farmhand duties and visits to the capital to do. The latter being more stressful because all the guards gave him dirty looks for, as they put it, doing their job for them. Link ignored them for the most part. But a few guards would get rather drunk and walk to his village and demand a fight. Link ignored them and would chuck a few dekunuts out the window to stun them and knock them out. Then, when they woke up the next morning, they’d remember they were sissies and leave him alone. It was tiresome to visit the capital where all the guards lived and could challenge him anytime, and all the time.

“I’m telling you, you’d be a great mayor for Ordon Link!” Ilia said.

Link sighed. He had no intention of becoming mayor. He was more than content with his farmhand job. But Ilia wanted someone to take over, and he was, in her mind, the only choice.

“I know that sigh! You don't think so do you?” She said. Link, being mute his whole life, had communicated through gestures and little noises. Mostly smiling and pointing. Sighs usually meant he wasn’t interested, tired, or didn’t think the other person was right and knew he couldn’t argue the point. “Don't give me that tone!” she said, glaring at him.

Link sighed again. He could only show his emotions so many ways. And unfortunately Ilia was the sole person aside from possibly Midna who had memorized them all. And she read him like an open blonde book.

Midna had learned his “speech” from their travels together. After she had shattered the mirror and left for her realm, Link visited Hyrule Castle to see Zelda. It turned out, that there was a second twilight mirror in the basement of the castle. Though he did have to smash the doors open with his ball and chain to stop them from closing on them, they had managed to open the portal to the twilight realm once again.

-----flashback------

Midna sat on her throne, bored as all twilight could be. She had nothing to do, no adventures, no companion, no enemies to fight, her servants merely did as she commanded without emotion. A portal opening in her throne room was certainly a startling change in the monotony.  And Link walking out of said portal was a highly welcome surprise.

“Link! Yes! Adventure! A relief from the boredom!”  She shouted loudly at Link looked at her half afraid half amused. Midna didn’t care if she was acting stupid, it was Link he didn’t care. The she appeared, Zelda, damn it there went the fun.

“Ah, Twilight Princess Midna, it’s a pleasure to see you again.” Zelda said her voice smooth as silk, but with a hint of amusement.

“Hello Zelda…to what do I owe the honor?” Midna said through gritted teeth. Seriously, she was grateful Zelda had saved her life, and she had risked her own to repay her debt. But this girl showed about as much emotion as her servants. Which, not only bored her, but irritated her thoroughly.

“We found a second twilight mirror. It seems they wanted back up link to your kingdom in case something ever happened.” Zelda said, Though she was happy for this discovery, it almost seemed dulled by the fact that Link was more excited about seeing Midna again than the discovery of the mirror. With this connection, Hyrule would be able to make trade with the Twilight realm, and exchange information, opening many new businesses and friendships.

“And you couldn’t have just sent Link in to see if it worked?” Midna asked, getting up and hugging Link, who blushed slightly at the showoff affection from her.

“That would be foolish to send him alone, what if we had emerged over a cliff?” Zelda asked. “He would have been a goner, I know enough magic to save him.”

Midna smirked and pointed to her crown like piece of metal on her head.

“I’m the Queen here. My servants wouldn’t’ve let someone fall off a cliff.” Midna smirked. “So! Since you’re here, I suppose that means I can visit right? Good! Then let’s go!” Midna shouted eagerly dragging Link back through the portal.

Link just sighed as his boots scraped across the twilight palace’s smooth floors.

Zelda sighed as she pulled out a small piece of paper and used magic to write in twilight on it. Telling the people of where their queen was and not to panic.

-----flashback over------

Link smirked slightly at that memory. Midna dragging him anywhere was funny even to him. She had been living with him for a few years. He had grown used to her and having to share his household. Though she had coincidentally had him make an expansion to the upper level so she had her own “bedroom”. Which consisted of merely a bed, dresser, mirror, and a large piece of cloth to act as a wall when she was changing.

Ilia noticed Link chuckling.

“What’re you laughing at mister?” she asked playfully. Link smiled back and threw his hands in the air to show he was hiding nothing. By the time he had done this they had reached his house, where Midna was waiting on top of the ladder.

Despite being the Queen of Twilight, she ended up borrowing some of Ilia’s clothes so she would fit in and not stick out like a sore thumbs, though her skin tone did that for her anyway. But she managed not to be a whiny bitch about the living commodities after a few days.

“You two lovebirds start making out in there or something?” Midna asked smirking as Link and Ilia both went red in the face, Ilia more so than Link. then she spotted Amaterasu, who had been following Link and Ilia.

“Or did someone get feral and have to beat up a wolf?” She asked, pointing to Amaterasu, who tilted her head to the side in confusion. Issun however was paying attention to something else.

Link gave Midna an irritated look.

“Hey! I’m not the one with a wolf following me!” she said defensively.

Link rolled his eyes in response and suddenly he saw something whizz by him, landing…right in Midna’s chest.

“They’re like Rao’s! I’m in love!!!!” Issun shouted loudly and he tried to move himself deeper into Midna’s cleavage.

“Link…”Midna’s face was turning redder and redder, while Link was trying not to laugh. “If you’re gonna get ticks, KEEP THEM TO YOURSELF!” Midna shouted, pulling Issun out and throwing him to the ground. Then stepping on him, and turning on her heel, further squashing him as she turned to go back to Link’s house.

Link sighed again. Today was not turning out like he had planned. And he had a hunch things were only going to get worse. At least this new wolf as on his side…so he assumed.

LOL on issun and midna :XD: :XD:

For the flashback, i think it would be better if you found a way to show that it was a flashback without acutally saying "flashback" ^^; Like a change in tense or something.
